Sonic Dash for the iPhone

Sonic Dash Logo

Sonic The Hedgehog finally gets into the iPhone! And no, I'm not talking about an imported Genesis game that you can play on the iPhone. I'm talking an original Sonic game for the iPhone. Sonic Dash for the iOS is something you should be looking forward to playing. This game is very unique and even though it's gameplay style is similar to Temple Run, this is not a complete rip-off.

In this game, you can play as Sonic and friends as you endlessly run through levels with super speed! The only character you can choose is Sonic, but you can get the other characters by purchasing them through Red Star Rings.

As far the gameplay goes, it's a little different from Temple Run. Of course, Sonic can switch lanes, and jump to avoid obstacles, but he can also Spin Dash. If you slide your finger down, Sonic can roll into a ball, and knock enemies out of the way. Slide your finger three times, and he can do a Spin Dash boost which lets you stay as a ball for a longer time. Sonic can also do the Sonic Boost. When the gauge is full and turns yellow, you can press the boost button below it. This will make Sonic go super fast and become invincible to any obstacle that comes in his way. Sonic's natural skill in this game also comes with a Homing Attack. This is only accessible when there is a fish jumping out of the water. That way, he can attack the fish and get to the other side.

Next up, are the springs. These will take you to different parts of a level or to an actual different level. If you take a spring with the ring box, it will store your rings in a bank. This is good feature to the game, because you can store more rings and add those to your ring storage to purchase things. Another spring with a green hill zone loop on it will take you to another part of the level, but this time Sonic goes a loop in a spin dash form. The camera zooms out to make the scene cinematic, and it looks great. The springs with the "?" mark takes you to random places, and the springs with a puzzle sign leads you to one of the puzzle pieces to collect.

The levels that are only in this game are Green Hill Zone and Seaside Hill. It sucks to only play those two levels, but hopefully they can make more when the next updates are coming. Also, the music you hear is the remix of Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes. It's awesome to hear but it gets old when you keep hearing the same thing over and over again. In the next updates, Sega hopefully can change the music depending on the level you're on. But what I really think that needs to be changed are the other characters besides Sonic. All the characters within game copy the SAME thing Sonic does. It's basically like Sonic in Shadow's, Tail's, Knuckles', and Amy's costume.

I didn't feel like paying for the Red Star Rings to get the other characters, so I looked up gameplay footage of them. When I saw all of them, I was disappointed. I was really hoping that the characters would change the way you interact with obstacle and enemies in the game. None of the characters have any type of skill besides just being a substitute for our trusty blue hedgehog. To me, it makes me think that Sega only used this game for commercial standards. It's like they never even thought of giving the other characters any type special power at all, they just copied Sonic's formula and just paste it to the others.

I was hoping that with the gauge, characters can only use their special abilities until the gauge runs out. Like Tails can fly in the air, but of course, this will decrease his gauge rapidly. Knuckles can temporarily break obstacles that are in the way with the exception of enemies. As for Amy and Shadow, that's still something to think about. If you want to give some ideas, just comment below. This game would have a lot of potential if they add these kind of things to the game.

But overall, the game is good. Sonic fits perfectly with endless runner games like this, and I think that if they add more usefulness to the other characters, with more level maps, and more remixed music, the game would be 10x better! But just for now, the game is good. Now usually I would rate games, but I'm just gonna let the review speak for itself. This is Daniel, and I'll see you guys in the next review.

Kingdom Hearts 3 for the new PS4!

For so long, fans have been demanding Kingdom Hearts 3, the next game to be featured in the Playstation, but Tetsuya Nomura, director of Kingdom Hearts, continuously said in interviews throughout the years that Kingdom Hearts 3 will be on delay due to his focus on the Final Fantasy stories. Then, on E3 2013, Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced to be released for the new game system Playstation 4, with an animation trailer to give proof about its release. After the trailer, people interviewed Nomura. Then he said Kingdom Hearts 3 was announced "too early", since the game is still in development. Then he continues by saying, "Many fans were feeling impatient due to our continuous releases of spin-off titles, so we decided to announce it at the same time as Final Fantasy XV".

So to make this a short summary, Kingdom Hearts 3 is still in development. The game will probably not be released until late 2013 or early 2014 for the PS4. The trailer on the other hand was just an animation of the game, in other words, its not the official gameplay. The official gameplay will be shown in a trailer later this year. Below is the summary for Kingdom Hearts 3:

Kingdom Hearts 3:

Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance

For years, Square Enix has entertained us with the Kingdom Hearts series, as we adventure as the Keyblade Kid Sora with his trusty sidekicks Donald and Goofy. Now with the newest installment, 3D Dream Drop Distance, the game has been taken to a whole new level.

In this game, you play as Sora and Riku separately in seven worlds. In order to switch between them, there is a feature called the Drop feature that puts the current character to sleep and wakes up the other character so you can play as them. Instead of fighting the annoying Heartless that never seem to end, you fight against new type of monsters called Dream Eaters. These monsters have been these seven world from being awake from the darkness. So it's up to you to unlock the seven keyholes to awaken the worlds and become true Keyblade Masters.

Since you no longer have Donald and Goofy with you as Sora, you use good dream eaters instead. With dream eaters, you can use them to help you in battle, use the Ability Link feature to unlock their abilities and moves, and power them up with training toys. If your dream eaters' link gauge is full you can use one of the links to help gain the upper hand in battle, or use both links to fight harder than ever. Another feature that is added to the game is the amazing Flow-motion and Reality-Shift abilities. With flow-motion, you can use it to get around places more faster, use it against enemies, and use it to escape from battles. Reality-Shift, on the other hand, helps you use certain objects like throwing barrels, or activating events like coding a machine to self-destruct. This makes the game more easy to handle by yourself.

During gameplay you will earn and unlock certain things like Keyblades, Glossaries, Flashbacks, and Mini-stories. Some Keyblades boost strength, magic, or both. Glossaries are definitions to help you get a better understanding of what things are in the Kingdom Hearts Universe. Flashbacks help you know what's going through the game, while Mini-stories gives you a brief summary about the series and the games that leads you up to the game you're playing unless you played all the games.

World Map interface gets you around different worlds so you can and entire through something new or go back to collect items you forgot to get. With each world having their own design and music, it makes the game fun to play. Every world has their dive entrance which a little mini-game you need to pass in order for to get the world. Sometimes the dive game includes bosses to defeat. Each world has their own boss. Sometimes, it takes a while to defeat the boss especially if it keeps doing the same attack pattern every time, but when you do, you will be rewarded with Keyblades.

Verdict:

Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is worth spending your money on if you're done playing with demo fifty thousand times. The graphics in the 3D is outstanding as always and the plot of the game is just wonderful. For all the Kingdom Hearts fans out there that haven't gotten this game yet, GET IT NOW while its still fresh in people's minds. Don't have 3DS? Get a job or either borrow a friend's because this game is worth playing. This game gets a 9.5.
